Henri Charles Guérard
Henri Charles Guérard was a French etcher and printmaker of the late 19th century, born in Paris in 1846. A close associate of the Impressionists and the husband of artist Eva Gonzalès, Guérard was central to the revival of fine art printmaking in France and a leading figure in the etching revival movement.
Guérard produced decorative etchings, portraits, and genre scenes of considerable refinement, contributing to major art publications and exhibitions of the period. His work reflects the artistic energies of Impressionist Paris with a printmaker's technical mastery and a keenly decorative eye.
