Kamisaka Sekka was a Japanese designer and painter born in Kyoto in 1866, widely celebrated as one of the last great masters of the Rinpa school of Japanese art. His richly decorative paintings and woodblock prints revived the classical Rinpa tradition of bold colour, gold leaf, and elegant natural subject matter for a modern audience.
