Gustav Klimt
Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter born in Vienna in 1862, widely regarded as one of the most celebrated artists of the Vienna Secession movement. His richly decorative paintings, characterised by their elaborate use of gold leaf, intricate patterning, and sensuous figural imagery, represent a high-water mark of fin-de-siècle European art.
Klimt's most iconic works, including The Kiss (1907–1908) and Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (1907), are among the most recognised and reproduced images in Western art history. His paintings are held in the Belvedere Museum in Vienna, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, and major collections worldwide.
